A natural infused oil made with skin-loving ingredients to calm and soothe sensitive or irritated skin.

There are days when your skin just feels overwhelmed—tight, itchy, or just generally stressed out. That’s when I reach for this gentle, golden Calendula Infused Olive Oil.  Making it is like bottling sunshine: slow, simple, and deeply healing.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This recipe is the ultimate skin-soothing ally. Calendula is revered for its calming properties, and when paired with nutrient-rich olive oil, it creates a powerful yet gentle remedy for inflamed or dry skin. Whether you use it as a body oil, facial massage blend, or a healing base for balms, its simplicity makes it incredibly versatile.

Beyond the practical benefits, making your own infused oil is a lovely way to reconnect with nature and self-care. The process invites slowness and intention, reminding us to nourish not only our skin but also our spirits.

making calendula infused olive oil steps

Instructions

Step 1 – Add Calendula to a Clean Jar

Make sure your jar is completely clean and dry. Any moisture can lead to spoilage.  Add 1 cup of dried calendula flowers.

Step 2 – Add Olive Oil and Combine

Pour 1 cup of olive oil over the flowers, making sure they are fully submerged. Stir gently to release air bubbles.

Step 3 – Infuse

Seal the jar and place it in a warm, sunny windowsill for 2 to 4 weeks. Shake gently every few days to help the infusion process.

Step 4 – Strain

After the infusion period, strain the oil through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer into a clean bowl or measuring cup. Discard the spent flowers.

Step 5 – Store

Transfer the strained oil into a dark glass bottle to protect it from light. Label with the date.

How to Use

Apply directly to clean skin as a facial or body oil, focusing on dry or irritated areas. Can also be used as a massage oil or added to DIY salves and balms. Best used in the evening to allow for overnight absorption.  You can also use your oil to make balms and salves like in our Anti-Itch Balm.

Storage

Store in a cool, dark place. Shelf life is approximately 6 to 12 months.

Additional Tips

  • Always use dried calendula to avoid introducing moisture.
  • If you prefer a quicker method, you can gently heat the oil and flowers in a double boiler for 2 hours.
  • For extra nourishment, this oil can be combined with a few drops of vitamin E just before use.
